New Rims!

I've decided to change to a new set of rims, TE37 replica. Downgrade from 16" inch to 15" inch, from 7jj to 6.5jj.

The tyres are Yokohama C-Drive which also outperformed by my previous Yokohama A-Drive R1 which handles better.

All i can say, it is much lighter than my previous rims. Improve my acceleration, but the downside, i lost some of handling abilities due to smaller tyres and smaller width which reduce traction.

Already feel bored with these rims after a while, guess i made a wrong decision.

E-manage/Dyno

I've selected E-manage from M7 (complete with ignition harness)
Installation by Mr Jai from Powerzone

Prepare to dyno at Powerzone, using DynoJet. Tuned by e-manage, tuning done by Mr Jai.

As a result of this upgrade, this originally near to stock 4g91 with camshaft and e-manage tuning managed to get an additional 25whp. With stock injectors, and yes, stock ecu with no rev cut. Next upgrade will be ecu rechipped and add larger injectors to support fuel and to meet the powerband of the camshaft which is currently at 3500rpm to 7500rpm, however the rev cut at 6700rpm eliminates the power peak. Hope to get more 10whp after this later upgrades. Til then, cheers! :)

Dura Tech Camshaft/Valve Spring Installation

Changing the stock valve springs to racing valve spring (more durable)

Dura Tech valve springs installation (it took more than 2 hours to install this as it requires special tools so that there wont be any damage to the valves)

Sadly, i forgot to snap the picture during the camshaft installation, as i went somewhere, the process of installing the camshaft and the valve springs alone took more than 3 hours. The mechanic responsible for this installation is Mr Jai of Powerzone.

Sunday

Dura Tech Camshaft Sound!

Idling and revving sound from my 4g91 with Dura Tech Camshaft. Enjoy!

Dura Tech Racing Camshaft

Dura Tech Racing Camshaft is a product from USA. And according to the specification for 4g9x engines, the spec is somewhat similar to Jun spec which is:-

IN: 272 deg, 10.85 lift
EX:272 deg, 10.85 lift

The price in the market varies from rm2***++ inclusive of valve spring

All i can say is that this camshaft is affordable, good quality for people who wants to upgrade their engine and yes, the horsepower is really nice.

I will update pictures of installation and dyno sheets in the coming time :)

High Flow Centre Bullet

After quite sometimes installing the Powerzone extractor, during the 2nd day of Hari Raya in Penang, i went to SpeedWorks to install the high flow centre bullet for my exhaust system. i didn't have the picture as i forgot to snap it! And it also very leceh for me to take pictures if the bullet under my car. So i just google'd a picture of it and yeah, i can feel only a lil beat of a smoother power mostly from the low end as the air flow pressure restrictions is less.

For your information, a standard centre bullet has more restriction thus restricts the flow of air through the exhaust at the early rev, so by using a high flow bullet, u will gain a lil significant low end power, but i still think that it is not a really necessary mods. Other than cosmetics when u lift the car using jacks!

Basic Modification: 4-2-1 extractor

One of the earliest or basic modification that can be done to the engine is by changing the oem extractor to a sports/aftermarket extractor. Basically extractor is a part that connect to the engine head to transmit air flow to the exhaust system. It is one of the part in engine breathing tools. They are various types of extractors such as 4-2-1 which mainly gives a good distribution between low end, mid end and high end power. There is also a 4-1 extractor which is short and long, which the short length focuses on low and mid end power while the long length 4-1 gives mid end and high end power (should only be used on a high revving car). For my application, i have opt for a 4-2-1 extractor from Powerzone.

All i can say about this modification, is that it is very worth it. It gives better engine pick-up and smooth power delivery. Powerzone claims that this extractor alone will give about 8% increase in horspower. Very worth it.

The extractor are double coated with chrome and the steel are made of white steel. It is not stainless steel but hey, the price is very wise with rm490 inclusive of installation and with the power increase, yes of the worthiest mod ever!

Basic Modification: Air Filter

The first modification i done on this car is installing an aftermarket air filter which is from Apexi. Since my standard box air filter already in bad conditions, i decided to change to open pod. i bought an original Apexi from Kakimotor in Mid Valley, and i have to admit it is quite expensive. I got the air filter for rm260, but u guys can get it cheaper at other shops which varies from rm230-rm260. Overall, using an aftermarket air filter will not give much increase in horsepower, i didn't feel anything after installing it. But according to some research Apexi air filters is the best in terms of filtration and power increase.

This test were conducted on a Toyota Supra, which shows that Apexi have the highest gain in terms on HP. Test were conducted on dyno and with the hood open (air flow in the engine is at maximum potential). But however, for me aftermarket air filters will only add HP in the range of 1HP maximum!

My Ride

This is my ride, a while ago, it is a near to stock satria 4g91 with a manufacturer's claim of 115ps (113hp). Quite a nice engine and really suits the characteristics of the satria in terms of power and weight distribution. The car is originally a 1.3cc 4g13 engine which lacking in power. the conversion to 4g91 engine does really give a much better power and comfy while still giving the best fuel consumption. Up to this date, there have been numerous modifications that i have done, but still the fuel consumption is very good, very syiokkk!

Introduction

Hey guys, Ahmad here, Im writing on this blog to share my experience mostly about cars modification which is one of my interests. Will keep u guys updated on the progress of my little 4g91 yet to be monster. Do enjoy and share with me any of u guys experience. Cheers !
